Ashley Fruge’ ’14 is moving from the Big Easy to Baton Rouge to become a full-time traffic anchor and reporter at WBRZ-TV.
While at Loyola, Fruge’ was a key part of the team that launched the Maroon Minute, the SMC’s daily webcast. One week after graduation Fruge’ plugged into the SMC’s vast alumni network and began work as a desk assistant at WWL-TV. She soon moved into an on-air position.
“The highlight of working for WWL was getting the opportunity to fill in for the traffic anchor,” said Fruge’. “Being part of WWL’s morning show was exciting and challenging. I took the role further by creating commuter-related packages for the evening newscasts.”
Now Fruge’ will be working on air fulltime in Baton Rouge at the ABC affiliate, WBRZ. Her responsibilities will include daily traffic reports during morning newscasts, as well as stories on traffic issues.
Fruge’ said her time at the SMC is a key part of her success.
“Loyola gave me the foundation and confidence needed for this business, and I am honored to call myself a Loyola graduate,” said Fruge’.
