The Loyola University New Orleans School of Mass Communication held the third annual Networking Night on Tuesday, November 9 from 6 p.m.-8 p.m., in Studio A, fourth floor of the Communications/Music complex.
The event was open to all Loyola students, as well as students from each university and college in New Orleans. Students had the opportunity to meet media and communications professionals and learn about internship and job openings in the city.
“Networking Night is an important gateway for students connect with New Orleans professionals. For the students who are not exposed to professional opportunities, Loyola provides them with Networking Night – an easily accessible option for career development,” said Assistant Professor Valerie Andrews.
Professionals included AdvanceNOLA, Bond PR & Brand Strategy, Brain Injury Association of La., Catholic Charities, City Business, Deveney Communication, Deutsch, Kerrigan & Stiles, Ehrhardt Group, Fuel Magazine, Hyatt Regency New Orleans, IABC, Jambalaya News, The Lens, Loyola Intern Abroad, Louisiana Justice Institute, The Maroon/The Wolf, Mudbug Media, New Orleans Outreach, neworleans.com, New Orleans VooDoo Arena Football, Nola Vie, Offbeat magazine, St. Charles Ave. Magazine/New Orleans Bride Magazine, Spears Consulting Group, Tales of the Cocktail, United Way and WWL-TV. Donations were provided by 5 Happiness, McAlister's Deli, Mona's, LA Fresh, Louisiana Pizza Kitchen, Loyola Sunday Cook Day, Otis Spunkmeyer, Roly Poly and Starbucks.
Andrews started the event in 2007 and now assigns the planning as a project for her Strategic Event Planning and Promotions class.
