When he’s not in the classroom, Professor Andrew Nelson is crossing the globe, writing for travel publications.  And this month he played a major role for National Geographic Traveler, contributing to their annual list of must-see places for the new year.

Nelson wrote the piece on New Orleans- one of only two spots in the United States to make the list.  He calls it his love letter to the city.

And the list is making the rounds in New Orleans- both on social and traditional media.  The Times-Picayune and WVUE-TV both interviewed Nelson about the list and the impact on the local tourism industry.  And many proud New Orleanians posted the list to their Facebook and Twitter accounts.
