The Department of Languages and Cultures congratulates our most recent graduate, Jackie Nuila, on securing this prestigious position! After finishing her internship with the Society for International Development, an important NGO in Washington DC, Jackie now is experiencing a different side of Latin American development by working with the development firm that works hand in hand with USAID. Currently she is working on a
proposal that is called Consolidation and Enhanced Livelihoods for Montes de Maria in Colombia. Her group will work to hire the Chief of Party (usually a American citizen) and hire the people that will be assisting the Chief of Party (Colombian citizens). It's her job, among other things, to get into contact with these Colombian nationals that they are considering for the position, contact their references and make sure they are the right fit.
Jackie had to beat out stiff competition to win the position. Jackie says that she would not have been able to achieve this goal without what she learned from her Latin American Studies Loyola professors.
