Michael Kammer and David Vumbaco, seniors in Physics, have presented the results of their resarch conducted with several faculty members from Physics and Chemistry Departments at two Symposia recently held at Loyola. They gave a 30 min talk titled "A Genetic Algorithm for Determining the Markov Conformational States of Shaker IR K+ Ion Channels" at the Biology Undergraduate Research Symposium. Michael and Dave described their work done in Prof. Kargol's Biophysics Lab.
A poster describing this research was also presented at the Undergraduate Research and Collaborative Scholarship Symposium. In addition Michael and Dave had a poster outlining their research with Prof. Koplitz from the Chemistry Department (Synthesis and Characterization of Cyano-N-methylpyridinium and Cyanoanilinium Salts) and David presented his ongoing project with Prof. Garrity (Advanced Transport Property Measurement on Carbon Nanotubes and Carbon Aerogel).
