Dr. Saxton research area of interest is in applied mathematics, particularly in hyperbolic equations and continuum thermodynamics. Her work has been published in numerous publications and she co-edited the book “Nonlinear PDE's, Dynamics and Continuum Physics,” Contemporary Mathematics, American Mathematical, 2000. She has received research awards from the Louisiana Education Quality Support Fund (1991-1994) and from the National Science Foundation (2002-2005).
In 2001, she was a co-organizer of the American Mathematical Society Special Session: Nonlinear Evolution Equations and Application, Joint Mathematics Meeting in New Orleans and, in 1998, she co-chaired the "AMS-IMS-SIAM 1998 Joint Summer Research Conference in the Mathematical Sciences - Nonlinear PDE's, Dynamics and Continuum Physics" in Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Massachusetts.
Teaching Dr. Saxton teaches a variety of courses at each level offered by the Department. In the past few years she directed two reading courses, one independent study course, and one research project (supported partially by NSF). Currently, she serves as co-advisor to the Math Club: Pi Mu Epsilon.
