Math/Computer Science Alumnus is a data engineer with TED Conferences

Ryan B. Harvey, '01, is now a data engineer with TED Conferences, the non-profit famous for spreading big ideas through their TED Talks. In this role, he builds software and data processing infrastructure to support TED's data science and analytical efforts and the features that result from them. Working remotely from the New Orleans area, Ryan also participates actively in local tech industry and civic tech efforts and contributes as an architect and data scientist to a food tech startup, Kitchology, Inc.

Ryan was previously a civil servant at the Executive Office of the President of the United States and the Social Security Administration, and completed graduate certificates in Scientific Computing and Computational Harmonic Analysis and a Master of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Scientific Computing at the University of Maryland at College Park.
