Student's Blog Leads To Internship & Jobs

Loyola School of Mass Communication Junior Graham Blackall is turning his passion for food and fashion into a successful internship and jobs.

The Covington, Louisiana, native started a blog, Glazed and Confused, in September of 2013 on the advice of a SMC professor.  It features dessert recipes, Blackall’s mouth-watering photos of the final product, and his take on dining around New Orleans.

After launching his blog, Blackall was offered a job as the Associate Creative Director at the Besh Restaurant Group, which manages nine restaurants owned by the James Beard-award winning chef.

And the job opportunities continue to grow.  Blackall also works with various clients to create sponsored content and he is also a publisher/contributor for two different food advertising networks.

“My favorite part about blogging is getting to share stories about my life, eating way too much cookie dough during the recipe testing process, and totally geeking out over desserts with all of my amazing food blogger friends who don't judge me for my excessive sugar consumption,” said Blackall.

As for the popularity of Glazed and Confused, Blackall does not discuss numbers, but does say page views consistently average in the higher end of the thousands each week. And in October 2014 Blackall was named one of 10 New Orleanians to follow on Instagram by GoNola.com.

See his work for yourself at GlazedandConfused.us or follow him on Instagram at @grahamblackall.  Just don’t blame us for your sugar cravings after you get a look at his photos!
