Easter project--Family Justice Center

Easter baskets for Latino children--interdisciplinary project

The national Spanish honor society, Loyola Chapter Mu Kappa of Sigma Delta Pi (moderator Dr. Eileen Doll), partnered with Dr. Rae Taylor’s Domestic Violence class at Loyola (CRJU-C280-001) to put together 60 decorated bags for the children of the Latina women survivors of domestic violence who participate in the Family Justice Center’s Women’s Empowerment Group (New Orleans). They started with donations (in-kind and monetary) from Spanish and Criminology classmates at Loyola, and received help from the Sunday School children and teachers at Grace Lutheran Church in New Orleans, who provided the decorated bags and plastic eggs filled with stickers and small toys. The bags were filled with stuffed animals, toys, craft items, personal care items (toothbrushes, lotions), candy, and snacks.
