Claire Lebas is a French native, born in Paris and raised in Normandy. She received a “Licence de Lettres Modernes” from the University of Caen in 1985 and taught French for several years in Caen. She came to Tulane University in 1992 as a graduate student/teaching assistant and obtained a Master’s Degree in 1994 and a Ph.D. in 2001 in French Literature. (Her dissertation topic was the series of Arsène Lupin by Maurice Leblanc.)

Claire Lebas has been teaching French as a foreign language for many years, at different levels, in various institutions around New Orleans, Louisiana, and private settings, in person as well as online. She has a wide range of interests: 19th – 20th French literature, detective novels, plurilinguism, French in Louisiana, Business French, French for lawyers, French for doctors, etc. She loves to share her passion for all things French & Francophone.
