Theresa Solenski curates exhibit on Central American ritual practices for local museum

Senior Theresa Solenski (English Writing/Spanish, with a minor in Biological Sciences, 2017) curated a featured photographic exhibit for the museum of the Meso-American Research Institute at Tulane University. The exhibit will be made public in Fall 2017.

In her semester-long internship working at the museum, Theresa researched syncretic practices in Guatemala and helped to catalog the vast museum holdings of photographs and other artifacts from various ancient Maya sites and contemporary indigenous and ladino villages. One result of her internship is the exhibit, for which she wrote an introduction and prepared the layout, demonstrating the fascinating interplay of traditional Maya and contemporary Christian influences in Guatemalan ritual practices.
