Languages Students Receive Awards 2017

Congratulations to the following students, majors and minors in the Department of Languages & Cultures, for their outstanding work:

The Richard A. Frank Memorial Award for Excellence in Modern Foreign Languages—Theresa M. Solenski

The Richard A. Frank Memorial Award for Excellence in Modern Foreign Languages is given in memory of Dr. Frank, a former chairperson of the Department of Modern Foreign Languages and Assistant Professor of German.  It is presented to the graduating senior with the highest grade point average as a major in the Department of Languages and Cultures.

 

The Honorary Consul of Spain in New Orleans Award—Sean G. McLaughlin

The Honorary Consul of Spain in New Orleans donates this award in recognition of excellence in the study of the Spanish language and the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. It is awarded by the Department to the outstanding graduating senior with a major concentration in Spanish.

 

The Excellence in French Award—Mary Colleen Dulle

The Excellence in French Award is presented by the Department of Languages and Cultures to the outstanding student with a major concentration in French.

 

The Center for Latin American Studies Award—Jacqueline L. Etheart

The Center for Latin American Studies Award is presented to a graduating senior with a major concentration in Latin American Studies who has a record of scholastic excellence and dedication to Latin America.

 

The Solidarity Award for Outstanding Latin American Studies Minor—Angela T. Ray

The Solidarity Award recognizes a Loyola student with a Latin American Studies minor who best exemplifies what in Jesuit Education is called “well-educated solidarity,” a student who learns to perceive, think, judge, choose and act for the rights of others.
