Allison Davis '16 receives the Most Outstanding Environment Major Research Award at Honors Convocation

Allison Davis was given the environmental major for excellence in research award this year at Loyola’s Honors Convocation.

Allison is a thoughtful and reflective world traveler and adventurer who is truly appreciative and respectful of native cultures. Allison has a voracious appetite for knowledge in general and especially about the environment. She is adept at finding, reading, and synthesizing primary literature. Allison has developed very solid environmental research skills by collaborating on a number of research projects, including quantifying habitat use by tropical spiders, monitoring population size of imperiled stream fishes, and – for her capstone experience – assessing studying recruitment of blue crab larvae along an estuarine gradient in the Mississippi River delta. Allison organized and led most of the field trips related to her project, oversaw collection and processing of all of her samples, and has been a full participant in data analysis and interpretation.
