Kelly Frailing- In Memoriam

Dr. Kelly Frailing is an Associate Professor of Criminology and Justice and the coordinator of the Master’s in Criminology and Justice Program. She has two distinct research interests, crime and disaster, and specialty courts and programs. Dr. Frailing is the country’s (and probably the world’s) foremost expert on crime in the wake of disaster and has been credited as one of the driving forces in the development of criminology of disaster. She is also an expert on specialty courts and programs, particularly those that serve people with mental illness and/or with substance abuse challenges. She has published dozens of journal articles and a number of books on these topics. Her current work is focused on examining crime in the pandemic through a disaster criminology lens, and on examining manifestations of therapeutic jurisprudence in specialty courts during the pandemic.
