The Loyola University New Orleans student chapter of the American Chemical Society has received an Honorable Mention award for its activities during each of the last several years. The chapter will be featured alongside other winners in Chemical & Engineering News and inChemistry, the student member magazine. In addition, the chapter will be honored at the 249th ACS national meeting in Denver, CO in March.
Loyola's student chapter of ACS is devoted to service, chemistry and the community.
Members frequently do demonstrations at area schools and other venues. They make liquid nitrogen ice cream at on-campus events and at the Louisiana Children's Museum during National Chemistry Week.
ACS, one of the largest scientific societies in the world, is a congressionally-chartered independent membership organization which represents professionals at all degree levels and in all fields of chemistry and sciences that involve chemistry.
