Teacher Education

The Office of Teacher Education prepares students to teach in middle schools (grades 4-8) and secondary schools (grades 6-12).

Students major in a state-approved content area and take education courses to fulfill state requirements for the Teaching Certificate. Loyola partners with some of the best public, private, and parochial schools in New Orleans and the metro area.

Education is at the heart and soul of Loyola's mission to "think critically and act justly," as education is the single best way for any nation or individual to escape the confines of ignorance, bigotry, and isolation.

The Office of Teacher Education offers Loyola students an opportunity to help change the fabric of the New Orleans community by engaging them in the lives of the youth of New Orleans.

In addition, there is far-reaching change and innovation happening in the schools of the Greater New Orleans area, as many people are working together to reinvent the educational infrastructure of the surrounding area. Loyola students have access to a distinctive moment in the history of American secondary education, and the Office of Teacher Education will help students to be part of that creative process.
