Political Science students give presentation to the City Council's Criminal Justice Committee at New Orleans City Hall

In April, 2010 political science students presented research findings to the City Council's Criminal Justice Committee at New Orleans City Hall.  Officials included Committee Chair, James Carter - District C, council members Cynthia Hedge-Morrell and Arnie Fielkow, who also serves on this committee.

The report, "Violent Crime Reduction Strategies for New Orleans, La.," was compiled and presented by students Bria McHenry and Mackenzie McMillian.  This research project is part of the course, New Orleans Policy, taught by Peter F. Burns, Ph.D., Professor of political science.

These students were also part of the Cardoner Leadership Fellows and started the project in Dr. Burns' first year experience class on Rebuilding New Orleans.

The Chief of Staff commended both students and professor on the information being highly relevant and instructive.
