Political Science alumna recognized by City Business

Chauntis T. Jenkins, A'95, was a recipient of the 2008 City Business Leadership in Law Award.  City Business recognized approximately 50 lawyers for their community and legal contributions.

Chauntis T. Jenkins is a partner at Porteous, Hainkel & Johnson, LLP and practices in the firm’s New Orleans office. Since joining Porteous in 2001, she has developed an extensive practice in the areas of insurance defense and general civil litigation in state and federal court. She is also a former law clerk to the Honorable Lloyd J. Medley of Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans.

Locally, Ms. Jenkins serves as the LSBA Young Lawyers Section At- Large Representative. She is a past Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the New Orleans Bar Association and NOBA Minorities in the Profession Committee. She remains a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, New Orleans Bar Association and the Greater New Orleans Louis A. Martinet Society and Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel (LADC).

On a national level, Ms. Jenkins is presently a scholar in the inaugural class of the ABA Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section (TIPS) Leadership Academy, a Committee Director for the ABA Young Lawyers Division (YLD), and a member of the ABA YLD Leadership Advisory Board. She has recently been appointed as Chair Elect of the TIPS Automobile Law Committee for the 2007-08 year and is an unopposed candidate for the position of ABA YLD Assembly Clerk for the 2007-08 year. Ms. Jenkins has also served as a panelist on a host of ABA CLE programs regarding substantive legal issues and professional development issues for the past several years.
