Amelia received her BA from Loyola University New Orleans in Political Science and German and her MA in Political Science from the University of Washington in Seattle. In her work and research, she has approached the study of power from a fresh perspective. She has worked with the City Parliament and Industrialized Areas Foundation in Berlin, Germany on urban development; initiated an environmental partnership between the Pacific Northwest and the Gulf Coast following the BP Oil Disaster; compiled an original neighborhood-level dataset on post-Katrina New Orleans; and worked extensively with trauma victims “fighting” for recovery in mixed martial arts therapy. She has also given many invited lectures and taught political science and writing courses at the University of Washington. Amelia is currently writing a book on political culture and serving as the Research Director of Envision DaBerry.
Project DaBerry is a five-week public art installation that highlights five different themes related to building sustainable communities: public health/wellness; market/commerce; art/entertainment; culture; and transportation/connectivity.
