Exciting news for Engineering students: Loyola's Pre-Engineering Physics program has established a partnership with Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering programs at the University of New Orleans.
Students enrolled in the 3+2 Pre-Engineering Physics program will complete three years of courses at Loyola before transferring to UNO to complete the engineering degree of their choice. After receiving an Engineering degree from UNO, Loyola will confer their second undergraduate degree - a B.S. in Physics.
An agreement, signed by the Presidents of both universities, makes the transition from Loyola to UNO seamless and specifies a course plan allowing students to complete all required coursework in 5 years (3 at Loyola and 2 at UNO) for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, and in 5.5 years (3 at Loyola and 2.5 at UNO) for Civil Engineering. Pre-Engineering Physics students planning to complete their Engineering degrees at UNO should apply for transfer after completing two years at Loyola and the conditions for acceptance include a grade of C or better in all relevant science and mathematics courses, as well as maintaining an overall GPA of 2.5 or better at Loyola.
