Minors

The Department of Philosophy challenges students to think, to listen, and to inspire others as they learn from the teachings of classical and contemporary philosophers.

The Department of Philosophy offers two minors:

Philosophy

Those who wish to minor in Philosophy must take the following:

  • Philosophy 122: Introduction to Philosophy
  • 2 courses from the History of Philosophy series
  • 2 courses from the Systematic Philosophy series
  • 2 Philosophy electives

Philosophy Pre-Law

Those who wish to minor in Philosophy Pre-Law must take the following:

  • Philosophy 122: Introduction to Philosophy
  • Practical Logic
  • Ethics
  • Philosophy of Law
  • 1 course from the History of Philosophy series
  • 1 course from the Legal Context Series
  • 1 elective; choose from Metaphysics, Epistemology, American Phil, or Intro. Analytical Phil

Substitutions: In some cases, common curriculum courses in Philosophy may be able to substitute for comparable courses in the regular program, with permission of the Philosophy Department Chairperson and/or Advisor.
