Dr. Barnes and Biology alumna, Michele Abbene, who is currently studying at the School of Forestry and Environmental Studies at Yale University publish paper on litter decomposition.

Dr. Robert A. Head ’69, a veteran Dothan, Ala., physician, will be Apalachicola’s first pediatrician when he begins work in January for the Sacred Heart Medical Group out of a downtown site the group practice is buying.

Biology alumna is head of pediatrics at GHESKIO CENTER in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. GHESKIO CENTER was the first institution in the world dedicated to the fight against HIV/AIDS. GHESKIO has provided continuous medical care in Haiti since 1982 - never once shutting its doors or charging fees.

Dr. Dorn has published nine original research articles in journals such as Public Library of Science -Neglected Tropical Diseases; Infection, Genetics and Evolution; Clinical Infectious Diseases; Heredity, and Journal of Medical Entomology since 2009.

Dr. Patricia Dorn's research group, including undergraduate biology researchers, have uncovered important aspects of a major parasitic disease of the Americas.

Melissa A. Kaintz, an outstanding graduate in Biological Sciences, was recently published in the North American Journal of Fisheries Management.

Patricia Dorn, Ph.D., was selected to have her manuscript about Chagas disease published in the March 2009 issue of the Public Library of Science’s Journal for Neglected Tropical Diseases.

Patricia Dorn, Ph.D., and Rosalie Anderson, Ph.D., recently received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health, part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
