Joy David is the Office Manager for the Department of Sociology and the Department of Criminology and Justice. Ms. David received her bachelor's degree in sociology with a minor in history from Loyola University New Orleans in 1992.
After graduating from Loyola she worked in Managed Healthcare for the next nine years. She worked for both Southeast Medical Alliance, Inc. and Peoples Health Network. She held positions as Provider Relations Representative, Provider Relations Manager, and Manager of Network Development.
After leaving the healthcare industry, Ms. David became a Pre-Kindergarten teacher at Holy Name of Jesus School located in Uptown New Orleans. She held that position until August 2005, at which time she relocated to Jupiter, Florida due to Hurricane Katrina. Ms. David joined the Department of Sociology in January 2007 when she moved back to New Orleans.
As the Office Manager for the Department of Sociology and the Department of Criminology and Justice, Ms. David’s job entails all aspects of departmental management. These responsibilities include intra-university communication, assistance to the departmental chair and faculty members, supervision of the department’s work study students, maintaining student records, handling the administration and accounting of the departmental budgets, and maintaining the departmental websites. In addition, she offers support for faculty research and service activities including assistance in faculty and professional organizational activities and community service.
Ms. David was awarded the 2015 Staff Excellence Award at the College of Social Sciences Honors Convocation on May 8, 2015
