Dr. Leonard Kahn, assistant professor of Philosophy, presented a paper titled "Robophobia: Military Robots and the Ethics of Armed Conflict" the annual conference of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE) in Reston, Virginia on February 19, 2016 and at the conference for the Humanities and Education Research Association (HERA) in New Orleans, LA on March 25, 2016.
The Loyola Ethics Bowl team competed for the first time in the 2015 Texas Regional Ethics Bowl competition, placing 8th out of 20 teams. The team traveled to San Antonio, where they competed against teams from various universities in Texas and Oklahoma. The team consists of students Laura Cordell, Brittney Esie, Kalyn Lueck, Thanh Mai, Tara Malay, and Liam Sheridan, with Dr. Joel MacClellan and Dr. Leonard Kahn as coaches.

To Loyola University New Orleans, philosophy professor Constance Mui, Ph.D., is the recipient of the university’s top faculty honor—the 2013 Dux Academicus Award. She received the accolade Friday, Jan. 10 at the Spring 2014 Faculty and Staff Convocation.
The Loyola Philosophy Department is pleased to announce the creation of “Big Ideas for Little Kids,” a philosophy education program aimed at elementary aged school children. Once a week for a period of six weeks, six Loyola undergraduate students, along with Dr. Jon Altschul of the Philosophy Department, attended the Good Shepherd School to work with their third grade class of 15 children. The class was divided into two groups, and each group began by reading a story centered on some philosophical theme.

Reverend Youree Watson, S.J. Distinguished Professor of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Constance Mui, served as a Visiting Scholar in Residence at Fudan University, Shanghai, People’s Republic of China.
Dr. Mark Gossiaux has recently presented two papers in Medieval Philosophy at separate conferences, one paper on James of Viterbo and the other on Thomas Aquinas and Duns Scotus.
Andrew Albert, a Philosophy major at Loyola, has won a prestigious Fulbright Summer Institute scholarship to study at Newcastle University.
Calvin Monley, English Writing and Philosophy student was presented at graduation with the Ignatian Award for Outstanding Senior Man. Calvin received a Bachelor of Arts degree with University Honors. Congratulations, Calvin!
