Foreign Language Placement Testing
Freshmen and transfer students who have studied two or more years of
a foreign language in high school are required to take a Foreign Language
Placement Test when they enter Loyola University. Testing sessions are
scheduled during Freshman Orientation and during the first week of each
semester, and tests are administered in French, German, Italian, Spanish,
and Russian. On the basis of these tests, students may be exempted from
the language requirement or placed in an appropriate level course for
continued study. No credit is awarded for performance on placement tests.
