School of Mass Communication Senior Cameron Hill balances academics and athletics, all while maintaining the highest GPA on the Wolf Pack men's basketball team.

A. Louis Read Distinguished Professor in Communication and Director for the Center For the Study of New Orleans Leslie G. Parr, Ph.D., will travel to France in November to speak at Aix Marseille University about photojournalism coverage of Hurricane Katrina.

School of Mass Communications junior Lucy Dieckhaus took home the second place prize for the Associated Collegiate Press “Story of the Year” competition.

A story written by Loyola University New Orleans student journalist Shannon Donaldson detailing how college students are reaping the benefits of a booming Hollywood South film industry won national recognition May 1 in the Society of Professional Journalists National Mark of Excellence Awards. 

SMC alum Michelle Gingras was hired as a multimedia sports reporter at the San Diego Union Tribune last September. She works primarily for their television station UT-TV, but her job is to create visual stories for multiple platforms.

Ophelia Battle is an advertising major and graphic design minor who was a part of Rebirth Advertising, a team winning a student Gold Addy and Best of Show at the Ad Club of New Orleans annual Addy Gala recently.

Loyola University New Orleans School of Mass Communication alumnae Kelly Williams Brown '06 visited campus last week to share her experiences writing her nonfiction humor book.

Ashley is an Account Coordinator for a company new to New Orleans, The Food Group. Based in New York, The Food Group is a full-service marketing and communications agency in the food & beverage industries.

Advertising student Eddie Schneider participated in a voyage around the Atlantic rim last fall. He sailed aboard the MV Explorer with more than 600 students, faculty and crew. The ship sailed to 14 countries in Europe, Africa, and South America in 107 days. 

The Public Relations Association of Louisiana recognized Loyola University New Orleans professor Cathy Rogers, Ph.D., as the 2012 State Educator of the Year in public relations.
