Dr. Serpas is the co-chair of Law Enforcement Leaders to Reduce Crime and Incarceration, a group of 180+ cops and prosecutors from all 50 states who believe their experience in the field can be a valuable guidance as the new administration sets its course on crime policy. He has over 3 decades of experience implementing crime fighting strategies.

As a sergeant of Deputy Superintendent Rannie Mushatt’s staff, Sergeant Powell’s main role is a liaison between the Investigation and Support Bureau and the Public Integrity Bureau. Sergeant Powell’s responsibilities include assigning, tracking and monitoring all internal investigations. She assists in the conduct of disciplinary hearings, preparing vital notifications and pertinent paperwork. She also review​s staffing requirements, court attendance, policy compliance and training.

Recent alumus, Donnie Palliser '15 has been promoted to Executive Lieutenant to the Patrol Division.  In his new role he will oversee the K-9 and Highway Interdiction Unit. Exec. Lieutenant Palliser has 25 years of law enforcement experience with 23 years being with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office.  He graduated cum lauded from Loyola in 2015 with a Bachelor in Criminal Justice and a minor in Forensics.  He is continuing his education at Loyola currently enrolled in the Masters of Criminal Justice program.

This special and very timely issue of American Behavioral Scientist, co-edited by Kelly Frailing and Dee Wood Harper, brings together the work by preeminent disaster scholars from Loyola, Tulane, the University of New Orleans, Brown University and University of Colorado Boulder in an examination of long term disaster recovery in the United States.

William Thornton and Dee Wood Harper will be provided a consultation to a group of seven human rights and correctional specialist from the Republic of Uzbekistan on May 6, 2014.  They are here in New Orleans sponsored by the New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council (NOCDC) and the U.S. Department of State International Visitor Leadership (IVL) Program. The New Orleans Citizen Diplomacy Council is a nonprofit organization that arranges professional appointments and cultural activities for over 500 international leaders sent to New Orleans annually.
