Student Successes
Our students have great success at obtaining scholarships and at having papers accepted for conferences. Below are just a few examples of what students have achieved while in our program:

EricaLyn Saccucci Price (2003) will be attending graduate school at Loyola University Chicago. She has been accepted into the PhD. program for Christian Ethics.
Douglas Dworak (2007) will begin teaching English at the Herald School, a private academy in Incheon, South Korea, run by the English language newspaper in Seoul the "Korea Times". Doug will begin teaching in late May and will be in Korea for a full year.
Robert T. Price (2003) has been accepted to the University of Illinois at Chicago for the MA program in French. He has been awarded a teaching assistantship and $14,000 stipend.
Alexa E. Ballard (2007) will attend graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin with a full scholarship. She was also accepted into the graduate program at Bryn Mawr College.
George (Ed) Merritt, III (2006) will begin teaching Latin at Brother Martin School in the fall of 2007.
Rachal (Rae) Ritter (2004) is working in the Public Relations department at Loyola.
Regina Kendall (2000) will attend graduate school in Counseling at Loyola in the fall of 2007.
Kevin Marshall (2007) will attend graduate school in Classical Studies at Tulane University on scholarship.
Katherine (Katie) Morrow Jones (2005) received a 2005 Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship in Humanistic Studies. Katie was awarded a University Fellowship by the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an assistantship at the University of Texas-Austin. She also received partial funding for graduate study at Cambridge University.
John Makarewicz (2005) accepted an assistantship at the University of Missouri-Columbia and completed a thesis in the University Honors Program in the Spring of 2005.
Kattai Barrow (1997) received the 1996 American Philological Association Minority Student Summer Scholarship
Roxanne Jewett (1999), Brent Hernandez (2000), Nathaniel Bailey (2001), and Sonnet Brown (2002) received the Louisiana Classical Association Scholarship.
Brent Hernandez (2001) and Katie Jones (2004) received Manson Stewart Scholarships from the Classical Association of the Middle West and South.
Erica Saccucci, Katie Jones, and Zac McGar served as writing fellows in the WAC lab and ACE lab supported by the Academic Enrichment Program while attending Loyola.
Sonnet Brown (2004) presented a paper at the annual meeting of 2002 Classical Association of the Middle West and South, Southern Section and completed a departmental honors thesis in Spring 2004. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Library Science at LSU>
Katie Jones (2005) presented papers at the 2003 National Eta Sigma Phi Convention, at a Conference on Ancient Religion and Religious Associations at the University of Pennsylvania in 2003, and at the 2004 and 2005 meetings of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South. She also presented her honors thesis at the 2004 meeting of Classical Association of the Middle West and South, Southern Section.
Katie Jones (2005) was an intern for two years (2003 and 2004) with the APA at the annual meetings.
