Sociology Alum Anthony Garrison-Engbrecht '07 will be joining the University of California, Berkeley, as the Assistant Dean of Students and Director of the Lead Office (student leadership). For the past several years, Anthony has been at Loyola Marymount University serving as the Director of Leadership Programs and LGBT Student Services. He is also working on his Ph.D. at Chapman University.
Criminal Justice Alum Tiffany Delery Davis '00 of Liskow & Lewis was named to New Orleans City Business' 14th Leadership in Law class. Tiffany will be honored at a reception on May 14, 2018, at the New Orleans Museum of Art.
Luis E. Rivera II ’01 (political science), an attorney at Henderson Franklin Starnes & Holt PA in Florida, was selected as an emerging leader in the American Bankruptcy Institute’s 40 Under 40 initiative. He was formally recognized at ABI’s 2017 Winter Leadership Conference in Palm Springs, Calif. Rivera has broad experience in business litigation, bankruptcy, creditors’ rights, and insolvency counseling. He is board-certified in business bankruptcy law and consumer bankruptcy by the American Board of Certification, one of only 12 attorneys in Florida to hold this dual certification.
Dr. Kim Mix and her research students, Kate Birdwhistell (Chemistry ’15), Cullen Lilley (Biology and Music ’17), and Andrea Alarcon Uquillas (Biology ’17), attended the Orthopaedic Research Society (ORS) annual meeting in New Orleans on March 10-13, 2018.
Psychological Sciences major, Oanh Nyguen, received a $2500 National Gilman Scholarship to study in the Netherlands. Oanh was selected from a national pool of more than 1,000 applications.

Dr. Paul W. Barnes, J.H. Mullahy Endowed Chair in Environmental Biology, recently attended a meeting of the UNEP Environmental Effects Assessment Panel in Malaga, Spain from February 13-21, 2018 to prepare a quadrennial report on the environmental effects of ozone depletion and climate change. Dr. Barnes is a co-lead author in the terrestrial ecosystems working group which includes 6 other authors. A draft report was produced at the meeting in Malaga with a final report to be prepared at a follow-up meeting in Vermont in September. While at the meeting Dr.
